Packaging & Contents

The Xigmatek Achilles S1284 comes in a unique package. Xigmatek seems to be showing off the design, as the major elements are easily seen through the clear plastic. The back cardboard panel has a list of specifications and compatible processors.

There is a large instruction sheet included with the cooler. There is also a bag of mounting hardware, including push-pins and screws for LGA-775 CPUs, a lever-style clip for AMD CPUs, four rubber fan mounts, a small pouch of thermal paste and a 3-pin to Molex adapter for the fan.

The 120mm fan included with the Achilles is rather unique. It has a clear smoke-colored frame with four white LEDs embedded in the corners, and the fins of the fan are clear orange. This combination gives a nice effect, as we will show you later. The fan is rather quiet and has a 4-pin PWM connector.

Optional Mounting Kit

For users of Intel 775 CPUs, there is an optional backplate and screw assembly that can be purchased separately and used in place of the push-pins. This should provide a more secure fitting and better contact between the CPU and the Achilles.
