Back in January of last year, OCZ Technology for the first time demoed their unique gaming device the Neural Impulse Actuator (NIA). Showcased at the Computer Electronics Show 2007, the Impulse Actuator captured everyone's attention immediately. It aims to use human's brain power to control characters and other objects in games just like we ordinary do today with a keyboard, mouse or other game controllers. Now, some time after the first working prototype was displayed, OCZ Technology officials say that we should see the NIA in retail shops very soon. OCZ has updated its site to include the brain controller. First final samples are also starting to ship. Visit OCZ Forums for more information. Also if you want to have one, you can preorder it now from some of the major etailers such as NCIX.com for $159.99.

lol freudian slip there? watch out ocz is out to control your brain!
i think that it might actually be well worth the price, but i'll wait for a review
so its not actually thought controlled like we all thought, facial expressions are what it works by which means your gonna have a very aching face after a good session :/
yeah, it detects the nural impulses form you moving your facial muscels, so this ruels out using this and voice chat at the same time (soz for crappy spelling its 07:30am and time 4 bed)
So your saying if i move my face the mouse moves or something? thats lame. how are you supposed to eat and game?
by: Corrosion;812049IV not included.

by: PVTCaboose1337;811810I play First Encounter Assault Recon, its also a first person shooter. Like most online games its plagued by hackers and all sorts. What im getting at is, after reading what you said i begun to realize what would occur if this product fell into the wrong hands!

Maybe im being paranoid, but imagine your computer being controlled by your wifes thoughts!
Lol. I want to see someone playing with this on. Theor face will be twitching all over the place.
by: ghost101;812321That would be funny as hell to watch

But it is one step closer to true VR gaming so I'll try it with the Cyro-Z, whenever it comes out.
Waiting for Virtual Reality games :)

you have no idea how many times i've corrected people here on TPU that it uses facial expressions... and got told i was wrong almost every time.
The fun part is using voice chat at the same time....
Will its bandwidth performance increase with a bald head?
by: Bjorn_Of_Iceland;812743buy one, and try it. then shave your eyebrows.

it just uses induction is all, just like how electromagnets, transformers, and chokes work.
by: eidairaman1;812778awesome its a transformer too? :D

On topic, what i've always wondered is the sensitivity. On the earliest models they never showed the face of who was using it in the movies, because it needed a fair bit of effort to use - of course it'll have gotten better, but i'm curious as to how much movement you need. If its only a slight amount it might not even be noticeable you're using it... whereas if its really bad, it'll look like you're having a seizure :D
by: Bjorn_Of_Iceland;812743i'm shaving mine already

oy, i hope your being sarcastic, i was talking about a stepup or stepdown transformer, usually when voltage increases current decreases, when current increases voltage decreases.

i can't imagine how it is work , maybe if play some game with this one and my mother see me she think i am going crazy when moving my head
by: hayder.master;812837the reason it has a chance of working, is because signals from your brain to your hands take about 50ms to get there - this cuts that back. It might not sound like much, but compare it to the effort games go to reduce their online ping by 50ms, and you'll see the comparison - speed is important.
